Freyja now answers in Icelandic

Freyja, the voice agent that answers calls at the Hvammsvík sea baths, has started talking to customers in Icelandic. mbl.is reported the news. Until then Freyja had answered phone calls in English, although she could reply in Icelandic by email and chat.

According to Menni's announcement, this makes Freyja the first voice agent that speaks Icelandic. She has resolved around 70% of calls and passes more complex requests on to the Hvammsvík service team.

At first Freyja answers the most common questions, but over time she will also give real-time information, such as availability at the sea baths and the weather in Hvammsvík.

In the article, Skúli Mogensen, founder of Hvammsvík, says it is fitting that Freyja launches during Icelandic Language Week, and that innovations like this can help preserve the language. Róbert Híram, CTO of Menni, says the company aims to launch more voice agents like her.
